Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings vs. Pole Structures
Far too often, sales of Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings are lost to Pole Structures and the general consensus indicates that itís always due to cost variables. To reduce the incidence of misunderstandings, we must determine exactly what our potential customerís expectations are and decide if they are ready to build:
a) Is the customer merely looking for an inexpensive building, to store equipment in?
b) Does the combination of building size and budget, preclude any or all options for supplying a Pre-Engineered Metal Building?
c) Does the customer want or need a structure with lifetime warranties?
d) Has the customer carefully considered the potential implications of snow and wind loading, in their area?
There are a number of reasons why Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings are more expensive than Pole Structures and itís up to us to advise our customers, so they can make informed decisions in that regard. Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings are structurally more superior (in every aspect) and as such, they are more expensive. In Conjunction with the technical structural advantages there are also other factors that show the distinct differences, between the two building types:
1) Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings typically have lower insurance rates.
2) The life span of metal buildings is not limited by any one component.
3) In Pole Structures, typically the only engineered, certified and guaranteed components are the roof trusses. And more often than not trusses are manufactures by the customer or an associate; (these are not engineered or certified for the climatic conditions of the designated location).
4) Legislation was recently passed, that will eventually ban the construction of Pole Structures, as they were deemed temporary and unapproved structures.
5) Many financial institutions rate Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings in a higher category (than Pole Structures); hence they are better risk to borrow against.
